Jewelry Care
HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR JEWELRY
At Mazza Boutique, our jewelry is made using a variety of quality materials, including 18K gold PVD-plated stainless steel, 18K gold-plated sterling silver, 18K gold-filled jewelry, sterling silver, and 18K gold-plated brass that is lead- and nickel-free.
Because each material is different, proper care will help preserve the color, shine, and finish of your jewelry for as long as possible.
18K Gold PVD-Plated Stainless Steel
Our PVD-plated stainless steel jewelry is designed to be durable, tarnish-resistant, and suitable for everyday wear. PVD plating creates a stronger, longer-lasting finish than traditional gold plating. While these pieces can handle normal everyday exposure better than traditional plated jewelry, we still recommend limiting prolonged exposure to water, chlorine, salt water, perfumes, lotions, and harsh chemicals to keep your jewelry looking its best.
18K Gold-Plated Sterling Silver & 18K Gold-Plated Brass
Traditional gold-plated pieces require a little more care. Avoid wearing them while showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping. Keep them away from perfumes, lotions, oils, makeup, household cleaners, and other chemicals, as repeated exposure can gradually wear away the gold-plated finish.
18K Gold-Filled Jewelry
Gold-filled jewelry contains a substantially thicker bonded layer of gold than traditional gold-plated jewelry, making it highly durable for everyday wear. To maintain its shine, avoid unnecessary exposure to chlorine, salt water, harsh chemicals, perfumes, and beauty products.
Sterling Silver
Sterling silver can naturally tarnish over time when exposed to air, moisture, and certain chemicals. This is normal and does not mean the jewelry is damaged. Store sterling silver in a dry place when not being worn and gently polish it with a soft jewelry polishing cloth when needed.
GENERAL CARE TIPS
- Apply perfumes, lotions, oils, makeup, and other beauty products before putting on your jewelry.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to chlorine, salt water, household cleaners, and harsh chemicals.
- Remove more delicate plated pieces before showering, swimming, exercising, or sleeping.
- After wearing, gently wipe jewelry with a clean, soft, dry cloth to remove oils and residue.
- Store pieces separately in a jewelry pouch, box, or sealed bag to help prevent scratching, tangling, and unnecessary exposure to moisture.
- Never use abrasive cleaners, harsh chemicals, or rough polishing materials on gold-plated jewelry.
Please note: Jewelry wear can vary depending on individual body chemistry, frequency of wear, environment, and exposure to moisture, chemicals, skincare, and beauty products. Proper care will help extend the life and beauty of your jewelry.
